Our Story

C&C Bread Factory was built on a simple belief: some things are worth doing the right way.

What began as a curiosity about sourdough baking gradually became a passion for the craft. Countless hours were spent learning, experimenting, refining techniques, and discovering that great bread isn't the result of shortcuts—it's the result of patience, consistency, and attention to detail.

Over time, what started as loaves shared with family and friends grew into something more. Encouraged by the support of those around us and driven by a commitment to quality, we decided to bring our bread to the community we call home.

Life doesn't always take you where you expect to go. Sometimes it leads you somewhere better.

Today, C&C Bread Factory is a family-owned, veteran-operated micro bakery based in Perryville, Maryland. Using simple ingredients, careful fermentation, and a commitment to quality from start to finish, we create handcrafted sourdough breads that are flavorful, dependable, and made to be shared.

We're proud to serve Cecil County and grateful for the opportunity to share our bread with our neighbors.

Our Sourdough Starter

Every sourdough bakery has a starter with a story. Ours begins on an Amish farm in Pennsylvania, where the sourdough starter we use today was first cultivated more than 100 years ago.

Carefully fed, maintained, and passed down through generations, this historic starter eventually made its way into our kitchen. It now serves as the foundation for every loaf of artisan sourdough bread we bake.

A sourdough starter is a living culture made from flour and water. Over time, naturally occurring yeast and beneficial bacteria create the fermentation that gives sourdough bread its distinctive flavor, texture, and character. With proper care, a starter can remain active for generations, becoming stronger and more developed with age.

We continue that tradition by feeding and maintaining our century-old Pennsylvania sourdough starter each week. While our recipes and baking methods may evolve, the starter remains at the heart of our process, connecting every fresh-baked loaf to more than a century of craftsmanship.

For us, it is more than an ingredient. It is a reminder that great sourdough bread is built through patience, consistency, and attention to detail.

More than 100 years after it began, our starter is still doing what it was meant to do: helping us create handcrafted sourdough bread to be shared with family, friends, and neighbors around the table.
